can't say a number as to how often to change the discs,,you know it needed changing when material removal is clean and quick. Regarding the overlapping glass and ROS,,that's why I'm a little critical of the "just cut it with scissors and sand it later" method. That's a lot of aerated glass/epoxy and power tools near previously sanded glass and an exposed edge. Anything that can stop the "sanding/sealing/sanding/sealing" cycle is a good idea.
Also why methods for "rub strips" using solid material are better than multiple layers of glass/cloth requiring major scraping/sanding/fairing.
