Kurt,

I'd say 50,000 with two kayaks puts you into the expert field. And Leslie into sainthood.

My only experience is with upside down canoes - where the wind really gets into them and tries to raise the roof. You're correct about upright yaks being way more aerodynamic of course. I also watched the bow lines and, with canoes, the bows were right there to show you every little wiggle.
