Mac, I've done about 5 years worth of hauling my boat around. The bow and stern tiedowns are mainly for insurance, it's the straps in the center that keep things together. I use cam buckle straps with a pair of bungies. Keep the bow and stern tie straps somewhat loose to give the boat a little "flex", although with a Caravan that is less of a problem. I also use an attachment to my Yakima rack to hitch the bungies on. To date, no problems ever!
