What I have found, for what's it worth. First, my normal stroke is vertical and I have to put tape on the deck/hull area to prevent inadvertent nicks. I have a natural slight pull outward with my stroke. End of disclaimer.

I use a 212 wing in a narrow boat and love the combination. In a wider 21" touring boat, I don't like the wing at all. I use an oversized or large 218 touring blade in that boat and it seems to match the boat well and I love it.
