Only where it's needed...

When I need to fill only a few areas, I add the fill coats only to those areas that need it -- no need to do the whole boat.
Also, after applying a fill coat of epoxy to the target areas, waiting approximately 10 minutes before lightly squeegeing off the excess will ensure than the fill coat will be thicker.
I do this when feathering in layers of fiberglass, such as deck/hull seams or keel strips.
