Seams on the tape
Posted by Dave on May 19, 2004
While taping the inside seams of my CH17 I noticed that the fiberglass tape had a big ol' seam on one side. In the cargo compartments, I cut the seam off before putting on the epoxy and everything is nice and flat.
in the cockpit, which I did first, I didn't notice this problem before I put in a whole sheet of fiberglass over the tape. Now I have long thin air pockets under the fiberglass.
I though about cutting through the main sheet of fiber glass and then trying to re-stick the flap to the tape and fillets with more epoxy. Or I could simply remove the thin strip of fiberglass which would basically reduce my cockpit reinforcing to three large pieces of fiberglass insteda of one contiuous sheet.
Help!
