Interesting thread, and a lesson on the drawbacks of silicone. I never use it anymore, not even on my houses, preferring the 3M bedding compounds, Boatlife, or latex.
Be sure to clean your tools well after you scrape, gouge or otherwise attack the stuff. It has a habit of traveling to other parts of the boat via dirty hand tools and sanders.
