Kelly, can you post a picture of what you are trying to do or smooth out? As stated already the wood flour mix is not the stuff to use in fairing. Cabosil while smoother is just as hard or harder to sand. The suggestion for microballons is right if you are painting. They turn a nice purple color in the mix. However they sand very nicely. Here is shot of my sailboat project bow with microballons.
