Oh, this is great! Thanks for the wonderful responses, they're tremendously helpful. Since I'm going to be painting the bow, I will probably use the microballoons to thicken the epoxy, and see if I can fair the bow using that. If I continue to have trouble, there's a West Marine shop here in Madison, and I can look into getting fairing compounds from them.

I'm *so* close to having the bottom look ok, it's just feathering the bow area that's difficult.
