How well does Maple bend? I know Ash is supposed to bend nicely; also a light colored wood. I think the practicle aspects of "rub rails" is lost on kayaks that are stored dry and cartopped or trailerd to the water. That said they make a nice accent/trim piece and can earn thier keep if they save your hull even one good bash. RogerJ
