Mac's suggestion for blocks at the bulkhead is a good one. I also used blocking over the sheer clamps to apply the downward tension there instead of at the overhang.

Someone suggested cutting notches in the overhang to within a 1/2", or so, of the hull at the tape or strap intervals. Personally, I think using the blocks is easier.
