Chris,

Did you make templates from your bulkheads to help with your sheer planing? It really helps you know when enough is enough. I found the planing to be very important, and the deck-to-side panel fit was perfect (then I covered it up with a rub rail!)

On my yak, I actually planed into the side panel just forward of the cockpit to follow the tighter radius of the deck beam.
