It's funny, Peter, I had the same response when I went out to my garage this morning. I put a coat of oil based enamel in the cockpit of my WR18 last night and it was still a bit tacky. I put it down to the cool wet weather we've had up here (not quite as violent as down your way). The coat thickness definitely plays a role, my "holiday-ish" areas are nice and dry. I want to put a second coat in there before I put the deck on which I had hoped to do this weekend. Patience is a virtue...yadda, yadda, yadda.
Have fun camping! If you are coming north you can borrow my Dagger Passage (17.5 footer) since it will just be sitting in my garage :(
