We use the word "oppressive" a lot. Mac, I'm near enough to Charlie to answer: it gets REALLY HOT. Summertime temps vary from highs of 98 to 107, with humidity in the 90% ranges. When the T-storm cells that suddenly appear and die like popcorn pass after yielding their .5 to 1" of rain, steam literally rises from the ground, and then it gets *really* hot and humid. Nighttime lows are in the mid 80s, and yes, you sweat like a pig even when outside even at four in the morning.
Yes, oppressive is a good description.
