MC 16 detail question:

Please help me with a detail - per the instructions I have attached the aft deck with an 1 1/2 overhang from the rear bulkhead into the cockpit. However, when attaching the rear combing, it says to glue and screw it in. But with the inch and a half space, I am not sure how to deal with that. SHould the aft deck actually be flush with the bulkhead? What is going on in that area of the construction?
