drill, fill, drill quest

Phooey, sorry about the premature post there.
Okay, I am in the midst of installing flush hatches and have mostly decided to use the little tabs to hold them in place. When you drill, fill, drill, by how much do you make the first hole oversize? Is 1/16" all around (an extra 1/8" in the diameter) enough, too much? Thanks for your help.
