After battling a bad case of sciatica last summer, I'd recommend two things - stretching excersizes and a hand carved seat. Of the two, stretching is far more important. Besides, it helps with your climbing and tellie skiing, too. But, you have to keep doing it on a regular basis for a long time before it really starts to work. For the seat, I simply started whacking away at a 3" foam block, tried it out, reshaped it, tried it out, reshaped, etc. The latest version has a thin foam pad on top to soften the seat up a bit. I carved the back out of the same block and curved and angled it to shape. It sits on top of the seat and is only as high as the bottom of the cockpit coaming. So far, this seems to have worked well.
