Strength of fully loaded
Posted by Steve on Jun 17, 2004
My wife and I just finished out first over nighter in kayaks. I have a C17. She has a Dagger. My C17 held vertually everything we needed for the outing with plenty of room to spare. It was a dream to padddle, even fully loaded it handle very nice!
I do have one question. How do you deal with the beaching of a fully loaded kayak? I was concerned about just picking it up form the water fully loaded (20lbs forward, 30lbs aft). I was concerned that with that much weight, it might actually damage the keel or crack the hull completely.
Does anyone have any real world experience with a kayak in similar situations?
