The grapple anchors sorta work - you'll want to stay close to the boat (in case you have to re-hook). Here's a proper anchor and I've had it hold my yak in a full gale while I hunkered down unwilling / unable to do anything. It is a system which means that it includes the necessary length of chain rode - that keeps the pull angle low and the flukes dug in. Fits in a bag and includes 150' of rode which means it works in up to 30' of water. 8lbs of security. SB
