Varnish reacts with the air to cure so it is wise to: split a can up into smaller fully filled jars when first opened, stir and not shake, and do not put leftovers back into the supply can/jar.
I thin only the first coat with Captains. Five coats are needed for a smooth finish if starting with smooth epoxy (no pocks or 80-grit scratches.)
