Alvin,
I've built a CH 18 and have a sail on it .
Despite claims by some that its a "TAPERED BRICK",I've found it a good alround boat, and an excellent sailer.
I,ve been out in a genuine steady 35 knots with the sail up and having a ball.
They are really a BIG boat.
Great for expeditions ,but really too large for a day boat for my size 5"8" 70kg ,although thats what I use mine for mostly.
For sailing, a rudder is just about a must.
Ive included a link to my sail setup on the 18.
The same sail also goes on my 21ft Double.
If your going to build anything ,search the various building Forums for advice on lightweight building and glass layups.
Cheers Paul
