dixie/wax coated cups should be avoided...but in my experience, they will not effect your cure. i suspect if your epoxy is not setting up, your problem lies elsewhere..most likely the ratio of resin to hardener.

from what i understand, when you use a wax coated cup, if the mixture gets hot, you can end up with a waxy film like an amin blush...that can effect the bonding of subsequent layers of epoxy...but as i said, i have not heard of it effecting the cure. fwiw, i have used wax coated cups in the past for small batches without any problem...even though i avoid it now.
