Yes, epoxy it. You may also want to wrap a small strip of glass around it for abrasion protection, though I don't know that it would be necessary.

Also, make sure it's oriented correctly (aft) when you install the box in the boat. I installed mine backwards and it's a world of work to correct it once it's installed wrong.
