banging toggles
Posted by LeeG on Oct 12, 2005
something I figured on a recent kayak. If you're bothered by banging toggles (while paddling, focus, focus) and don't want to slip the toggle under deck lines or otherwise have it less than easily grabbed you can make a small loop of rope (too small for hands) to go through the hole then tie the toggle to the top of the loop on deck. I suppose you could use regular line but I did it with 3/16" hollow vectran with a splice. It's a stiff material so the toggle will sit on the deck but when it's grabbed the small loop of line will allow the toggle to clear the bow.
