fabric decks?

Still thinking out loud here . . .
Has anyone ever used a fabric deck (treated like a skin-on-frame) on a stitch'n'glue hull? That would seem to save an awful lot of weight, though it would also eliminate the possibility of hatches, and would require a few more deck beams.
