Re: fiberglass thoughts

Lenny,
The way you want to make a fiberglass boat is being done every day in hundreds of factories around the world. They spray a mold with release agent, gel coat and then chopped fiberglass mixed with epoxy. Pop it out and you have a boat, canoe, kayak, bathtub, shower stall, or whatever you want. It is heavy and has its limitations. It takes a lot of glass to hold its form and be strong.
The seat you describe is nowhere near as comfortable as a well made closed cell seat. And, holding most any seat in place can be done with some velcro strips.
Good luck with building, Jim S
