Chester yawl for idiots
Posted by Jan Kajlich on Oct 13, 2005
If I can add to the plethora of sage advice on this site: instead of suggested two six-foot ladders to hold the stitching job on the Chester yawl, why not use the bulkheads and frames from the kit, clamped upside-down to a 2x16 working bench (one 4x8 pywood sheet cut in two), stiffened by 2x4's and set on 3 or 4 sawhorses? Works like a charm for me! Anyone planning to build the boat on the floor better be sure to have good medical insurance... Sorry if this is way below the boatbuilders standards and known to every jack of the trade - I did say "for idiots" (like myself). Jan
