no. I was saying that my understanding of the description "sporty" implies maneuverability and a particular beam measurment has very little to do with it. Certainly if the beam is narrow enough for a given length the kayak will sit lower in the water and therefore be less maneuverable but it's the shape of the hull (rocker,ends,angle of chines) that confers maneuverabilty. If by "sporty" he means fast,,,well above water beam might imply a narrower waterline beam but not necessarily.
