Go for it. When I built my Pax 20, I soon realized it was too big for a coffee table, so I painted the hull. I, personally, don't like a completely bright boat. I used brightsides sapphire blue and get a great many remarks about its beauty. It does kind of look like the clc commercial for them, though.
