The term "Yawl Boat" is also used by the schooners of the Maine windjammer fleet. Many of the schooners are unpowered, and a yawl boat with a diesel engine is used to push the schooner in and out of harbors, or at sea when the wind dies. They also serve as a shuttle ashore for lobster bakes! Yummy!!
