That's kind of what I was thinking, thanks. In conclusion, what I've learned from this thread is:
1. In a given skin-stressed design, air may be plenty strong enough for the core.
2. If air is, then blue foam would be, too.
3. Blue foam is a more convenient mold, since solid air is rare, at least for those of us S. of the Border.
4. But assume it's any STRONGER than air at your peril.
