I agree with your sanding analysis but I think, in considering what CLC says about sanding, it may be worth while to remember that some first time folks reading that material don't have and have never heard of a ROS. Obviously, without a ROS the sanding of the epoxy would be exponentially more time consuming and perhaps it is wise for CLC to over emphasize the scope of the sanding required.
