I have the bungees as tight as I can get em...they dont pull straight down but when you try to lift the hatch you can feel what would seem to me to be sufficient down pressure...the rims are compressing the gaskets quite well... I can understand why the aft hatch ... the stiffener caused it to flatten out relative to the surrounding deck but the front hatch should be great...I also a little concerned that a bungee might snap or a hook might give out at the wrong time...? can straps over the top provide sufficient pressure? Probably less than bungees I guess.
