This is a canoe. No deck. No optional hatches that can add weight. No deck rigging. No sail. No anchor (as in my case). Where would an extra 60% of the weight come from?
The weight of the epoxy, varnish and glass. What about the positive floatation - what was used there?
I paddled the 12' canoe at okumefast, and that was a light boat, although, the shearwater was an easier paddle in the windy stuff.
