Fiberglass specs

Hi Anyone got a tip on the best weight of fiberglass to use for sheathing my canoe? (wooden canoe)

One supplier reckons I need 450g, plus, tissue to give it a smoother finish. Ive not heard of anyone using tissue over the fiberglass, plus Ive read that some people just use 250g...so Im confused! And do I need to epoxy the wood first, apply the glass and epoxy again? or can I just apply the glass and epoxy over it?
