scarfs vs puzzle joins
Posted by George on Jul 26, 2006
Just a thought - it my uneducated opinion, it seems as if the puzzle joints used with the Shearwater (and with the new SOT showing on the shopcam?) are a more elegant, surer and easier way of joining lengths of plywood than are the scarfs used with the Chesapeakes. Does anyone know whether CLC has considered switching to puzzle joints with the Chessie kits, or is there a reason why this would not be advisable? Say, for example, the joints being less strong or less bendable where it matters?
