Cut slowly. Use the CLC bonsai saw. Cut slowly. Lay masking tape over the wood, mark the cut line on the tape and cut through the tape to avoid scratching the wood. Cut slowly.
If you cut slowly with an unpowered tool, any mistakes you may make will be smaller than the gap which the hatch needs anyway.
