Re: Shearwater Hybrid Hat

I've got a HB17 about to be started and I was wondering about the rear hatch stiffener flattening it out. Now I know. I thought, instead, to add 2 or 3 vertical stiffeners (like my chesapeake 16) since I'll need them for the Moby latch connection anyway, and maybe another layer of fiberglass. It seems to me that I should be more worried about the sill's capacity to support the weight of paddler rather than the hatch being the weakest link. Based on the diagram in the instruction manual the gluing surface of that skinny hatch spacer is too small. Comments anyone?
