Bet they are doing a sapele middle deck (or something other than okoume) with standard okoume deck side peices. Like the shearwaters in their catalog. Looks like the same idea going on. Nice gradual curve on top and then the steeper "tumble home" that will attach at the hull. Makes sense to do that on a SOT.

One picture early last week showed what looked to me like the stitching together (or was it just fitting, before the kitty photo anyways) of one of the side pieces to the main deck (sapele) piece.

I think the grain and the fillet give some optical illusion.
