I use a similar (larger) downwind sail - a found-in-the-woods octagonal tent fly that is held up and spread out by both paddles. It works awesome (downwind only) in both light and heavier winds but it works for me , I think, because I have a rudder. Quick up, quick down and doesn't take much room to store - ideal for the kayaker looking for a little break from paddling...

PS Also helps bigger boats see your boat in the water in busy waterways...
