Catastrophic delamination
Posted by Adam Bolonsky on Oct 16, 2006
It happens.
I'm in the process of writing an article on how to deal with it.
Anyone have a similar experience?
The fiberglass after ten years of constant kayak use begins to peel of in large sheets.
Likely cause: epoxy that was overworked in the 'glass application process (i.e. air bubbles in suspension in the epxosy) which compromised the layer between 'glass and wood and finally let in moisture.
I stripped the boat completely and have re-'glassed. Photos and story soon.
Meanwhile, anyone else have the same happen?
