Gilles, The instructions for the Shearwater calls for glassing the underside of the deck. If you mean the inside hull I did not. Your boat will just get heavy and you won't have a boat left if you are down to the cloth you laid inside. The Shearwater has 3 layers of cloth already on the outside and only weighs 42 lbs so carrying it isn't much of a problem. If you don't mind a heavier boat, I would go with kevlar strip on the outside hull, dyno strip, brass, etc.
