Re: interior glassing

Glass on the inside GREATLY increases the strength of the hull. A puncture is much less likely to happen if the inside is glassed. The glass on the outside gives abrasion resistance and strength, interior glass adds significant strength. The only place that the plywood cracked on my kayak that flew off my truck was where it was only glssed on the outside. Where it had interior glass it was fine. Under point loads, such as hitting a large rock, survivability is much better when the inside is glassed. Also, a layer of glass does not weigh that much more that enough fill coats to properly seal the wood.
