Check out the drawings of the rudders that CLC sells on the mfgr's page:

there's a nylon disk between the pin and the bracket that's attached to the bracket. A screw just ahead of that into the endpour with it's head extending over the disk keeps the rudder from falling out.

I don't see a good pic of that on CLC's site, but there's a good shot of it in The New Kayak Shop.
