deck

quick Q. if I'm building from plans, do I need to scarf on the tip. I notice that without, the sheet comes in about 3" maybe from the max. beam, which I guess is where they say makes for the shortest joint with the butt block.
Is it ok to omit the scarf joint at the end? It's a CH16, so I will have enough length and more to cover the stern.
Also, it might be a bit tight on the rough out cut of the deck peices, but if I can turn the sheet to run almost parallel with the keel instead of at an angle, I will be able to utilize a very nice grain pattern.
what do y'all think?
thanks to all, Jay
