Hi David,
I have a CH16 and it rolls pretty well. I would assume there is very little difference between it and a CH17.
The technique has to be pretty good to get them up initially but after you get your roll sorted you can do lots of different Greenland rolls in one. It isn't as easy as my SOF by any stretch of the imagination but it's ok.
I fitted knee braces the same as CLC sell and they do help.
I can do an standard Greenland, butterfly roll, reverse sweep and an elbow roll in itso it isn't impossible.
My initial lessons were in a pool polo kayak which was a lot easier to learn in, but with a bit of persistance you'll get it in a CH17.
