Probably the biggest challenge re:varnishing in the garage, is supressing the dust particles that are inevitable if the boat has been built and sanded there. The advice to wet down the area, even spraying with a mister will be helpful just prior to applying the varnish. If one could varnish out-of-doors and under cover (leaves etc) then only insects would be tormenting.
