$900 for materials, $100 for sandpaper, retail value; priceless.
Lee, Look on the CLC link below for boats for sale as a guideline. If you're looking for value the insurance company will accept, then I'm afraid you're limited to cost of materials, since they don't count your time and effort. I built a 16' outboard plywood runabout and all they will insured it for cost of materials, electrical and mechanical systems, and motor separately (which is valued more than the rest of the boat!).
I know this wasn't much help, but it's difficult to put a price on passion, sweat, tears and pride.
