Cartopping a 20-foot boat
Posted by Geoff Freed on May 30, 2007
I have a 20-foot wooden triple kayak that I need to carry on top of my Subaru Forester. I have Thule loadbars that can be spaced a maximum of four feet apart on the roofrack tracks. My question is... is a four-foot spread enough to support a 20-foot boat safely? I will be tying the bow and stern securely to the car, of course. I'm concerned about the thing flying off my roof when I'm driving on the highway.
Thanks. Geoff Freed
