Boat Damaged!
Posted by Eric Mattison on Aug 26, 2007
My wife and I just completed a circumnavigation of Orcas Island in the San Juans of the Pacific Northwest. It was a week long trip and about half way through it, I bumped some submerged bolder. It's happened before, but this was a fully loaded boat.
Anyway, the next day as we were loading up, I noticed some cracking in the epoxy in the back hatch. A closer look, made it appear that the top layer of the plywood was also cracked. The bottom of the boat shows scuffing, and you can see the point of impact.
I didn't take on any water and completed the trip without incident, so I believe the boat is still sea worthy. Any thoughts on repairs? How concerned should I be?
